The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, received a number of high-ranking Iranian Army commanders and staff in Tehran on Sunday.
“They are flagrantly threatening us, yet expect Iran to give up with its defense capabilities. Even if such threats did not exist, we had to be thoughtful and prepared for possible attacks,” said Ayatollah Khamenei to the meeting.
“The Islamic Republic has proved that it would defend itself powerfully. The whole nation would come together like a fist and face aggressors. Our nation is integrated and unified in defense and maintains its preparedness,” Leader asserted.
The West has fabricated a false myth saying that Iran seeks nuclear weapons in a bid to prove Islamic Republic is a source of threat, Leader said, adding that, “the real source of threat is the United States of America which creates insecurity through its interference in domestic and internal issues of other countries in the region and faces no inhibitory forces.”
United States’ support for tyrants has resulted in tear-jerking, barbaric and oppressive events in Yemen, Leader highlighted.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the lack of humanitarian principles among many world armies while victory or defeat, and added that an obvious example is US who disregards international law and humanitarian principles and commits barbaric crimes against innocent people.
Events in Yemen, Gaza and Lebanon indicate failure to adhere to international law, Leader said, stressing that Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran always lived up to the obligations of Islamic law, and in no time used forbidden tools and techniques when at risk.
“Iran’s avoidance of seeking nuclear weapons is a policy in accordance with religious and Islamic standards of our country,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to some allegations on Iran’s interference in the affairs of other countries in the region and rejected the accusations as being untrue and absurd.
Iran’s Leader described the Saudi invasion of Yemen and Western support for the aggression against innocent Yemenis an example of behavior against security in the world and noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, unlike world powers, assumes security as the greatest blessing from God.
The meeting came after Iran’s Armed Forces held parades across the country to mark the occasion of the National Army Day on April 18.
Army Day is annually celebrated on April 18 and commemorates the anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. The day is marked with nation-wide parades of armed forces in presence of top officials. The main parade was held in Tehran with President Rouhani attending the event.
